Setting up your Viewer

Before you can begin to explore the NZVWG you will need to download one of the following viewers.  Please note: this system is NOT browser based.  We recommend the following Viewers:

Hippo Viewer -   http://mjm-labs.com/viewer/
Phoenix Viewer - http://www.phoenixviewer.com/
Imprudence Viewer - http://wiki.kokuaviewer.org/wiki/Downloads

Once you download and install the viewer, run the program.  Depending on the viewer, you will see an opening splash page and graphics.  This is NOT the NZVWG.  You will still need to configure the viewer to access our grid, much like you have to type in a URL address to get to a web page.  With these three viewers, however, the process is very easy (using the Second Life Viewer2 is a bit more difficult, and is explained below).

PLEASE NOTE:  In the example below, DO NOT type in the Auckland address as shown.  Instead, type in this address:

http://akl.nzvwg.org:8002/

Type in your name and password, and ensure that the NZVWG is selected (in Quick Grid Select at the bottom of the page).

Using the Second Life Viewer2

While you can use the Second Life viewer, we generally find better performance with one of the viewers listed above.  However if you choose to use this viewer, follow the steps below.  You must ensure you type in the addresses EXACTLY as shown (spaces are important).
